Wellness Wednesday: Walk More, Stress Less – Heart Health One Step at a Time

Learn from Dr. Richard Armenta about the stress-relieving and heart-boosting benefits of walking. Gain practical tips, everything from picking the correct walking shoes, to the biomechanics of walking and how it benefits one’s overall cardiac fitness, to incorporate walking into your daily routine for a healthier, happier life!
Richard Armenta earned his PhD in Epidemiology at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Department of Family Medicine and Public Health and San Diego State University Graduate School of Public Health. He is a social epidemiologist with over 15 years of experience conducting research to improve health equity. In his research, he collaborates with communities to conduct community-driven research that address priorities. He has conducted research on HIV and other infectious diseases and has helped develop and run evidence-based programs to address chronic diseases in underserved communities. Additionally, Dr. Armenta serves as the Associate Director of the Center for Training, Research, and Educational Excellence (CTREE) at CSUSM. He is the PI and Co-I on several training programs for students in STEM and runs a STEM education program for American Indian Youth.
