The District supports healthcare education and training for the benefit of future generations. Each year, a portion of the District’s budget is allocated to local post-secondary and high school students pursuing or planning to pursue healthcare careers. The application period for FY 25-26 Scholarships opens December 1, 2025, 12 AM – February 6, 2026, 11:59 PM.
Apply for a FY 25-26 Health Career Scholarship
Students in the areas of nursing, health tech careers, and behavioral health, interested in applying for a post-secondary scholarship, need to first verify their eligibility through their address, using the District map. If you are a current resident (at least 1 year), are employed (at least 2 years), or have previously graduated from a high school within the District boundaries, you meet the minimum criteria to apply for one of our post-secondary scholarships. Post-secondary applicants must only apply for one scholarship in a given year and can only be awarded that scholarship once. Richard J. Bea Community Service Scholarship
Registered Nursing (RN) students with a demonstrated commitment to community service; 2 Awards: $8,000 (1st place) and $5,250 (2nd place)Health Tech Scholarship
Students who are currently enrolled in or have graduated within the past 6 months from a healthcare-related technical training or degree program (e.g., Radiology Tech, Respiratory Therapist, Orthopedic Tech, Pharmacy Tech, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Speech Therapy – click to see more examples of eligible programs; 5 Awards: $5,250 (1st place) & 5 Awards: $3,250 (2nd place)Behavioral Health Scholarship
Behavioral Health students in training or degree programs (e.g., Master’s in Social Work, Master’s in Marriage & Family Therapy, Doctorate in Psychology – click to see more examples of eligible programs); 5 Awards: $15,750Advanced Practice Clinician Scholarship
Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) students looking to advance to a higher level of clinical practice; 5 Awards: $15,750Certified/Clinical Nurse Scholarship
Students in an accredited graduate or postgraduate degree program to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, Certified Nurse Midwife, or Clinical Nurse Specialist; 2 Awards: $10,500
FY 25-26 High School Scholarships Selection Process
East County high school students with expressed interest in healthcare careers from the participating 23 local schools go through a separate selection process completed by their class advisors/counselors. Students do not need to apply.
Awards Process & Ceremony Info
Post-secondary and high school scholarship winners will be voted upon and/or notified of their win in late February or early March 2026, and will be asked to participate in a joint public award ceremony, held at a Board of Directors Meeting in Spring 2026, date TBD. Students will receive their certificates, have their photos taken with the Board, and be asked to take a group photo at the end. Space is limited in our auditorium, but we encourage all awardees and their friends/family to attend.
Photo waivers will need to be completed by the students before the ceremony. Once executed, email it to info@grossmonthealthcare.org.
