Board of Directors Meetings are regularly held every 1st Tuesday and every 3rd Thursday of the month, at 9 AM, in person at the Grossmont Healthcare District’s Conference Center Auditorium (9001 Wakarusa St. La Mesa, CA 91942) or remotely via Zoom (Zoom links available here on the Board Calendar page). Check the calendar to verify any changes or cancellations.
 

How are Board of Directors Meetings structured?

• Meetings are formal, beginning with the Pledge of Allegiance and followed by parliamentary procedure with motions to vote on agenda items. Regular Board of Directors begin promptly at 9 AM. Meeting duration may vary depending on the number of agenda items, presentations, and public comments.
• If meetings are expected to run long, a short 10-minute break may be called, and the Zoom recording will be paused. After the break, the recording will resume.

How do I join online via Zoom?

• Members of the public can choose to participate remotely via Zoom. Zoom information for each meeting date/time is available here on the Board Calendar page.
• If attending remotely, you can choose when to join or leave. You are welcome to just attend for your relevant agenda items. It is advised to check the agenda schedule for when to join, as the item(s) on which you wish to comment may not be discussed until well into the meeting.

Am I allowed to make public comment and when?

• The Board will prompt those interested in making public comment about topics not on the agenda (3-minute time limit per speaker) at the beginning of the meeting; however, in accordance with California law, no Board discussion or action can be taken on items not on the agenda.
• Then the Board will proceed with business, line by line, per each meeting's Agenda. If you have comments related to Agenda items, including those on Zoom, you will be prompted by the Board President to speak one at a time, item by item. If you’re attending in-person and planning to verbally state your comments, you’ll be called to the speaker podium, and the CEO will moderate as timekeeper (3-minute time limit per speaker).

Can I pre-submit public comments?

• Comments can be submitted online here via the Make Public Comment form and should be entered at least 24 hours before the Board Meeting. In the interest of time, comments of a similar response/nature may be summarized rather than read individually, but will be made available in the meeting minutes for more in-depth viewing.
• If this is your first time attending a Board Meeting and you’re planning to make public comment, it’s recommended that you come prepared with your talking points. If desired, you can formally introduce yourself, stating your name, your connection to the Grossmont Healthcare District (where you live, work, receive health care services and/or attend school in East County) and/or your interest in the topic at hand.
• Board of Directors may or may not respond directly to your comments for clarification or further commentary; however, no action can be taken on items not on the agenda at the time of the meeting.

How do I access information after the meeting has ended? Where can I view the recording or follow-up about what was discussed?

• Board Meeting recordings are available in the Meeting Minutes, attached to each Agenda, and also include a summary of voting results, comments, etc.
• Participants can reach out directly to Directors who have provided their contact information on the Meet Your Board of Directors page. General messages for the Board of Directors may be emailed to info@grossmonthealthcare.org.
• Members of the public can also Make a Public Records Request for detailed documents on a particular topic.

Can the public attend Committee meetings?

• Members of the public may check the Board Calendar and attend Committee Meetings related to their topic of interest.
