Wellness Wednesday: Age Gracefully, Stand Strong - A Guide to Bone Health

Attendees will gain an understanding of osteoporosis, including risk factors, screening recommendations, current treatment options, and evidence-based strategies for prevention. The session will also address fall prevention and raise awareness of medications that may increase fall risk, helping older adults maintain bone health, mobility, and independence.

Speaker: Dr. Khanh N. Huynh, PharmD, APh, BCACP, is a Clinical Pharmacist with the San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency. She leads the vaccination program for the San Diego Mobile Pharmacy, which provides vaccines, health screenings, health education, and naloxone distribution to underserved communities, including individuals experiencing homelessness and those living in pharmacy deserts throughout the county. Dr. Huynh earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Loma Linda University and completed a PGY1 Community Pharmacy Residency at North Country HealthCare in Flagstaff, Arizona. Her professional interests include public health, chronic disease management, transitions of care, and specialty pharmacy. In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Huynh serves as President of the San Diego Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SDSHP), where she advocates for advancing the role of pharmacists in patient care and public health. She remains actively involved in pharmacy leadership, professional development, and legislative advocacy at both the local and state levels.

Wellness Wednesdays are GHD-sponsored programs that feature different health topics every month. Wellness Wednesdays are free and open to all community members. Registration is not required. Parking in our lot is limited. Additional parking is available across the street in the Brier Patch Campus lot. We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes early to get settled and parked, as these are our most popular programs.
