Wellness Miércoles: What it Means to Participate in a Clinical Trial – A Look into Cancer Research

Octubre 22nd @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

There are often many questions about clinical trials, such as when and where one might be an option. Join us for a chance to explore clinical trials and how they can be a treatment option for some patients with cancer. This could be the first type of treatment received, or one after. You will learn what is involved in a clinical trial including a patient’s journey through various procedures, assessments, and what you might experience during enrollment. A question-and-answer portion will follow discussion.

Danica Griffin is the Lead Clinical Research Specialist in Oncology and has been with Sharp since 2020. Other roles she has held include being a Clinical Research Coordinator in Pediatric Cardiology at Rady Children’s Hospital and a Project Manager and Clinical Research Navigator at Northwestern/ Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago.

Michael Lowry is a Clinical Trials Specialist in Oncology and has been with Sharp since 2020 as well. He works with oncologists to help connect patients to clinical trials and works to remove barriers for study participants and guide them after they are enrolled in a clinical trial. Before joining the Oncology team in Febrero of 2023, Michael worked in neonatal research, caring for high-risk newborns who were receiving care at Sharp Mary Birch Hospital for Women & Newborns.
