DESCRIPTION:For many CCS clients\, art is a safe space to process unspeakable abuse\, and foster expression and healing. Within our prevention programs\, often led by youth volunteers\, art also becomes a call for unity\, support\, and a commitment to believing and uplifting survivors. This Meet & Greet invites the community to reflect\, connect\, and honor the strength and hope survivors carry with them. \nCenter for Community Solutions (CCS) is a regional leader of the intervention and prevention of relationship violence and sexual assault. They operate four domestic violence shelter programs and one of the largest Rape Crisis Centers in California. Wraparound services include counseling\, legal assistance\, client advocacy\, and basic needs support. All services are provided free of charge. CCS also manages the 24/7 crisis hotline for the County of San Diego and receives over 5\,000 calls a year. DESCRIPTION:Go on a Virtual Reality Adventure at the Health & Wellness Library! Using Virtual Reality (VR) technology\, transport yourself to a variety of visually stunning & mentally stimulating environments. Take a walk along the beach\, explore an art museum\, or travel around the world\, without leaving the comfort of the Library. VR technology is used to cue memories\, stimulate the brain\, and provide positive experiences to support overall mental health. \nParticipants will put on a VR headset (30-minute sessions)\, which completely covers the eyes and immerses the wearer in a 360-degree digital reality to be seen through the lenses of the headset. The headset detects head movement\, allowing the user to be fully immersed in the experience. Simply move the head left or right to discover the surroundings! DESCRIPTION:Alain L. Raymond\, MMS\, PA-C from Sharp Grossmont Hospital’s Cardiovascular and Cardiothoracic Surgery\, will be discussing stroke\, explaining the causes\, myths and perceptions\, risk factors\, and how to respond in an emergency. \nMr. Raymond is a Physician Associate specializing in cardiothoracic and cardiovascular surgery in Southern California. A U.S. Navy Fleet Marine Corpsman\, Alain served two combat tours in Iraq with the 1st Reconnaissance Battalion. After his service\, he trained at Stanford University School of Medicine’s PA program. He went on to practice at world-renowned institutions\, including Scripps Hospital\, UC Irvine\, Sharp Hospital\, and Cedars-Sinai\, focusing on cardiothoracic surgery and heart and lung transplantation.
