DESCRIPTION:AudAbility™ is an evidence-based program designed by board-certified music therapists at MusicWorx to support people living with Parkinson’s disease and their care partners. Through music therapy and wellness approaches\, we empower individuals to cultivate a greater quality of life. AudAbility™ participants engage in music-based interventions\, including singing\, movement\, instrument play\, songwriting\, and mindfulness. DESCRIPTION:Go on a Virtual Reality Adventure at the Health & Wellness Library! Using Virtual Reality (VR) technology\, transport yourself to a variety of visually stunning & mentally stimulating environments. Take a walk along the beach\, explore an art museum\, or travel around the world\, without leaving the comfort of the Library. VR technology is used to cue memories\, stimulate the brain\, and provide positive experiences to support overall mental health. \nParticipants will put on a VR headset (30-minute sessions)\, which completely covers the eyes and immerses the wearer in a 360-degree digital reality to be seen through the lenses of the headset. The headset detects head movement\, allowing the user to be fully immersed in the experience. Simply move the head left or right to discover the surroundings! DESCRIPTION:AudAbility™ is an evidence-based program designed by board-certified music therapists at MusicWorx to support people living with Parkinson’s disease and their care partners. Through music therapy and wellness approaches\, we empower individuals to cultivate a greater quality of life. AudAbility™ participants engage in music-based interventions\, including singing\, movement\, instrument play\, songwriting\, and mindfulness. We can help participants improve and maintain critical functions such as speech\, swallowing\, breath capacity\, fine & gross motor skills\, and cognition. We also support social-emotional needs and use music therapy to alleviate depression\, anxiety\, and isolation. No music experience is needed to participate! \nThis is a 12-week program held every Thursday from April 9th\, 2026\, to June 25th\, 2026. Participants who register intend to commit to all 12 weeks. Previous program participants may register. Individuals interested in attending individual classes may register or be added to the waitlist if there is room or a cancellation from another participant. DESCRIPTION:Instructor Lanita Varshell leads students through very gentle chair and simple standing poses that are deeply relaxing and releasing for all\, but specially designed for those who have a challenging time moving their body\, or have limited mobility. This is a doable class for all with highly effective healing movements and mindfulness practices. Even those who have no mobility problems can find great mental and physical benefits in this class. \nWhen: Wednesday\, May 13th\, 2026 | 10-11 AM\nHappens every 2nd Wednesday of the month\nWhere: Grossmont Healthcare District Health & Wellness Library (9001 Wakarusa St.\, La Mesa\, CA 91942)\nRegister: After 4/8/26 11 AM (the previous class session has ended)\, sign up to reserve your spot for this class by calling 619.825.5010\, emailing library@grossmonthealthcare.org\, or visiting us in person.
