The classes are gentle\, and combine both chair and standing postures to provide what the class needs on any given day: flexibility\, muscular strength\, range of motion\, agility\, vitality\, balance/coordation. Mindful meditation topics help reinforce that ever important connection between body and mind. Bring your own mat (chairs and props provided)\, something for hydration\, and bundle up in layers for outdoor weather. \nGarden Members do NOT need to register online. Please sign in upon arrival.

DESCRIPTION:Meet and greet with the County of San Diego’s Chief Geriatric Officer\, Dr. Lindsey Yourman MD\, and discuss her vision for elderhood in San Diego County. She will present an overview of strategies to achieve age-friendly health care for you and your loved ones. \nDr. Yourman was motivated to pursue this career during her youth after caring for her grandparents and her volunteer experiences in nursing homes. Her work as a physician has included seeing patients in medical practice\, research\, policy\, and geriatric quality improvement\, all with an age-friendly lens. She graduated from Harvard University with a Major in Psychology\, attended UCSF Medical School\, Scripps Mercy Internal Medicine Residency\, and UCSD for her Geriatrics Fellowship\, where she currently is an affiliated Associate Professor of Geriatrics\, Gerontology\, and Palliative Care. She was the inaugural Medical Director of Geriatrics Quality Improvement at UCSD\, where she led multiple sites to achieve the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s highest level of Age Friendly Health System recognition.
