DESCRIPTION:Go on a Virtual Reality Adventure at the Health & Wellness Library! Using Virtual Reality (VR) technology\, transport yourself to a variety of visually stunning & mentally stimulating environments. Take a walk along the beach\, explore an art museum\, or travel around the world\, without leaving the comfort of the Library. VR technology is used to cue memories\, stimulate the brain\, and provide positive experiences to support overall mental health. \nParticipants will put on a VR headset (30-minute sessions)\, which completely covers the eyes and immerses the wearer in a 360-degree digital reality to be seen through the lenses of the headset. The headset detects head movement\, allowing the user to be fully immersed in the experience. Simply move the head left or right to discover the surroundings! SUMMARY:AudAbility™: Music Therapy for People Living with Parkinson’s Disease
DESCRIPTION:AudAbility™ is an evidence-based program designed by board-certified music therapists at MusicWorx to support people living with Parkinson’s disease and their care partners. Through music therapy and wellness approaches\, we empower individuals to cultivate a greater quality of life. AudAbility™ participants engage in music-based interventions\, including singing\, movement\, instrument play\, songwriting\, and mindfulness. We can help participants improve and maintain critical functions such as speech\, swallowing\, breath capacity\, fine & gross motor skills\, and cognition. We also support social-emotional needs and use music therapy to alleviate depression\, anxiety\, and isolation. No music experience is needed to participate! \nThis is a 12-week program held every Thursday from April 9th\, 2026\, to June 25th\, 2026. Participants who register intend to commit to all 12 weeks. Previous program participants may register. Individuals interested in attending individual classes may register or be added to the waitlist if there is room or a cancellation from another participant. It’s a great way to get out\, get active\, and enjoy all the benefits that come from walking. Walk at your own pace and distance. \nEach walk starts with a brief discussion about a relevant health topic from a Sharp physician. The official group route is about a 1.5-mile walk around the campus and Briercrest Park. SUMMARY:AudAbility™: Music Therapy for People Living with Parkinson’s Disease
DESCRIPTION:AudAbility™ is an evidence-based program designed by board-certified music therapists at MusicWorx to support people living with Parkinson’s disease and their care partners. Through music therapy and wellness approaches\, we empower individuals to cultivate a greater quality of life. AudAbility™ participants engage in music-based interventions\, including singing\, movement\, instrument play\, songwriting\, and mindfulness. We can help participants improve and maintain critical functions such as speech\, swallowing\, breath capacity\, fine & gross motor skills\, and cognition. We also support social-emotional needs and use music therapy to alleviate depression\, anxiety\, and isolation. No music experience is needed to participate! \nThis is a 12-week program held every Thursday from April 9th\, 2026\, to June 25th\, 2026. Participants who register intend to commit to all 12 weeks. Previous program participants may register. Individuals interested in attending individual classes may register or be added to the waitlist if there is room or a cancellation from another participant. DESCRIPTION:Go on a Virtual Reality Adventure at the Health & Wellness Library! Using Virtual Reality (VR) technology\, transport yourself to a variety of visually stunning & mentally stimulating environments. Take a walk along the beach\, explore an art museum\, or travel around the world\, without leaving the comfort of the Library. VR technology is used to cue memories\, stimulate the brain\, and provide positive experiences to support overall mental health. \nParticipants will put on a VR headset (30-minute sessions)\, which completely covers the eyes and immerses the wearer in a 360-degree digital reality to be seen through the lenses of the headset. The headset detects head movement\, allowing the user to be fully immersed in the experience. Simply move the head left or right to discover the surroundings!
