Dr. Falquier worked as a primary care doctor for over 15 years and in 2020 founded Sensations Salud\, which focuses on empowering through nutritional knowledge and culinary literacy by way of Culinary Medicine education and consulting. Dr. Falquier promotes Culinary Medicine throughout San Diego and internationally. She is the proud host of the Culinary Medicine Recipe podcast\, serves on the board of 2 non-profits\, and is a clinical professor at two universities. DESCRIPTION:Hands of Time: Tracing the Alzheimer’s Odyssey\, Photographs by Robin Harris (February 2024 – June 2024) \nRobin Harris\, a San Diego native\, was born and raised in a bustling household as the youngest of five. Growing up\, her voice often lingered in the background\, seeking expression through constant doodling until the doors of formal education opened\, allowing her to weave her tales on paper and canvas. Her artistic journey commenced with drawing and painting\, fueled by a deep love for art history and influenced by the timeless works of masters like Rembrandt\, Picasso\, and Monet. Armed with a passion for visual storytelling\, she earned a BA in Graphic Design from San Diego State University\, laying the foundation for a career in the world of creativity. \nIn 1996\, she found herself immersed in the realm of photo retouching and image editing for a pioneering stock photography agency\, inching her way closer to what she was ultimately meant to do\, document the human experience. The agency allowed her to refine her skills as an editor\, though it wasn’t until fate introduced her to her future husband\, a seasoned photographer\, that she embraced the camera as her own artistic instrument. Together\, they embarked on a creative journey\, establishing a company where she finally discovered her voice through the lens of the camera. \nLife\, however\, took a poignant turn in 2008 when her father passed away from Alzheimer’s disease. The profound impact of this experience led her to reevaluate her path\, prompting a pivotal decision in 2014 to reach out to Alzheimer’s San Diego. Eager to contribute\, she joined as a volunteer\, utilizing her photography skills and love for serving her community to shed light on the challenges faced by individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s. Since then\, her commitment to Alzheimer’s San Diego has been unwavering. This exhibition is a culmination of years of artistic exploration\, a visual narrative that transcends the canvas and captures the true essence of connection through human hands. SUMMARY:Acrylic Painting: The Art of Realism with Chad Berwald
DESCRIPTION:Join ArtReach San Diego instructors at the Health & Wellness Library for a Community. Access. Connection. art workshop to learn a diverse array of art mediums\, techniques\, and styles\, from art journaling\, acrylic painting\, and collage to textile art. \nIn the Art of Realism workshop\, participants will create small realistic paintings of simple subjects. In March’s class\, we’ll be painting eyes that will be turned into magnets or exist as small paintings for display. You’ll also learn how to mix colors\, and how to use highlights\, shadows\, and techniques to apply paint to create masterful and realistic images through step-by-step instruction.
