It teaches adults how to recognize the signs and symptoms that suggest a potential mental health challenge\, how to listen nonjudgmentally\, give reassurance to a youth who may be experiencing a mental health challenge\, and refer a person to appropriate professional support and services. \nUpon completion\, participants will have the ability to recognize certain behaviors and signs that could identify a mental health crisis within youth. Participants will not be able to diagnose or treat these disorders but act as a liaison to connect the young person to resources. \nPlease note: this is a 6-hour in-person training. A lunch break\, as well as short breaks\, are included. To receive the certificate of completion\, participants must complete approximately two hours of self-paced online pre-work before the live training\, attend the live training\, and complete a short quiz and survey after the training. \nIf you’d like to learn more about Youth Mental Health First Aid\, visit the YMHFA landing page or Mental Health First Aid.
