GHD's $25,000 to the San Diego Regional Fire and Emergency Services Foundation will pay for medical supplies, rescue and safety equipment and training for 27 rural volunteer fire departments

The Grossmont Healthcare District (GHD) board of directors has unanimously approved a grant of $25,000 to the San Diego Regional Fire and Emergency Services Foundation for the acquisition of medical supplies, rescue and safety equipment and training for 27 rural fire departments that are manned by volunteer firefighters.

GHD said the funds will assist volunteer fire departments located in different East County communities, including Alpine, Boulevard, Campo, Deerhorn Valley, Dehesa, Dulzura, Harbison Canyon, Jacumba, Lake Moreno, Lee Valley, Mount Laguna, Ocotillo Wells, Pine Valley, Potrero, Shelter Valley and Tecate.

The Grossmont Healthcare District, a public agency in San Diego's East County region, supports various health-related community programs and services in San Diego's East County region and serves as landlord of Grossmont Hospital on behalf of local taxpayers. The District, formed in 1952, is governed by a five-member board of directors, each elected to four-year terms, who represent nearly 500,000 people residing within the District's 750 square miles in San Diego's East County.
