News from the Grossmont Healthcare District

The Grossmont Healthcare District (GHD) board of directors has unanimously approved a $25,000 grant to the City of El Cajon Fire Department to help support its Public Access Defibrillation program.

The GHD grant will help purchase 19 automated external defibrillators , which are expected to be installed on local school campuses in the East County. GHD’s grant also covers training and program management. Fire officials said they hope GHD’s grant will serve as a much-needed catalyst to generate widespread interest and participation so that someday defibrillators will be as accessible as fire extinguishers.

The Grossmont Healthcare District, a public agency in San Diego's East County region, supports various health-related community programs and services in San Diego's East County region and serves as landlord of Grossmont Hospital on behalf of local taxpayers. The District, formed in 1952, is governed by a five-member board of directors, each elected to four-year terms, who represent nearly 500,000 people residing within the District's 750 square miles in San Diego's East County.
