Grossmont Healthcare District presents 2015 Kids Care Fest at Lakeside Rodeo Grounds; free health care screenings for children

The Grossmont Healthcare District (GHD), a public agency that supports
health-related community programs and services in San Diego’s East County,
will present the 2015 Kids Care Fest from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Sept.
12, at the Lakeside Rodeo Grounds, 12584 Mapleview St., Lakeside. The
family-oriented event that’s open to the public features free health care
screenings for children.

Now in its 14th year, Kids Care Fest is a free opportunity for children to
receive free, potentially life-saving, health care screenings, including
hearing, vision and dental screenings, from healthcare professionals. Also
available at the event will be free medical information from pediatricians,
dermatologists and pharmacists, along with free kids fingerprinting. Free
flu shots also will be available (while supplies last).

Additional free activities will include rock climbing, inflatables and
pony rides (100 pound limit for riders), along with demonstrations and
displays from law enforcement, including police and fire officials. Also available
will be free children’s readings books (while supplies last). For more
information, phone (619) 825‑5050 or visit _www.KidsCareFest.org_
(http://www.kidscarefest.org/).

Several local Lakeside community organizations are supporting the 2015
Kids Care Fest. Barona Resort & Casino is donating water bottles. The Lakeside
Optimists Club will be serving their famous Opti-Dogs. Additional
supporting organizations include the El Capitan Stadium Association, Lakeside
Chamber of Commerce, Lakeside Community Collaborative, Lakeside Union School
District and Santee-Lakeside Rotary Club.

Healthcare partners supporting 2015 Kids Care Fest include Sharp Grossmont
Hospital, Rady Children’s Hospital, Borrego Community Health Clinic,
University of California at San Diego (UCSD) Eye Mobile for Children, La Maestra
Community Health Centers, Mountain Health & Community Services,
Neighborhood Healthcare, Family Health Centers of San Diego and the County of San
Diego Health & Human Services Agency.

The Grossmont Healthcare District was formed in 1952 to build and operate
Grossmont Hospital in La Mesa. GHD serves as landlord for the hospital
property and buildings on behalf of East County taxpayers. The District is
governed by a five-member board of directors, each elected to four-year terms,
who represent more than 500,000 people residing within the District’s 750
square miles in San Diego’s East County. For more information, visit
